THEATRE
Lebedev took the position of the main director of performances in the theatres of Hannover, Brandenburg and Putbus. Critics also praised his work as a conductor in the theatres of Würzburg, Zwickau and Altenburg, where he has performed operas by Mozart, Donizetti, Wagner, Shostakovich, Kagel, and Glanert, among others.
Building on his successes, he was invited there by the permanent conductor of the Erfurt Theatre.
– You are co-founder of the New Music Theatre Weimar, recently the production of the opera Fioravanti “Die DorfsängerInnen” (The Village Singers) could be seen under your direction in the Erfurt theatre. It celebrated huge success. Do you feel a special connection to the theatre?
“Absolutely! This is my world. I feel very much at home on this “planet”. Maybe because I started singing in a boys’ choir at the age of six, first in Moscow and then in Leningrad. Then I continued to work with the choir at the Faculty of Conducting Choir at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. So, it is easy for me to work with singers both in opera and in concert. We get along well with each other. Now the opportunity arose to unite these two worlds, and the theatre proved to be the best place for this“
