For more than 10 years, Juri Lebedev led the State Youth Orchestra of Thuringia.

The repertoire of the orchestra includes works by composers of the classical and romantic periods, music of the 20th century and works by contemporary authors – including symphonies by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Dvořák, works by the German classics Mendelssohn, Weber and Liszt, pieces by Debussy, Ravel , Sibelius and Nielsen, as well as symphonic poems by Richard Strauss and works by Shostakovich and Prokofiev.

The composition of the orchestra is constantly updated. After a audition, to which a jury of musicians from the orchestras of Weimar, Gotha and Meiningen is invited, selected young musicians are invited to participate in orchestra projects and concerts.

The LJO has already toured Europe and Asia several times.
